Dear VlogBrothers:
I don’t know what day it is anymore thanks to the new Tuesday-Friday schedule.
-sigh-
I don’t know what day it is anymore thanks to the new Tuesday-Friday schedule.

I was browsing Twitter one day, and one of the trending tags was “Hanko de Mayo”. A bunch of people I followed were talking about this. I had no idea what it was. Eventually I figured out it was the birthday of some guy named Hank Green, whose icon was him holding a guitar. Near as I could figure, he was some kind of singer.
A little while later, I saw a retweet of some guy named John Green. It was a hilarious tweet, so I checked this guy’s twitter feed to see what else he said. He cracked me up. I followed him. No idea who this guy was. After a little poking around in his twitter feed, I figured out that he was an author. I’d never read any of his stuff.
A little while after that, John Green posted a link to a video on YouTube by the ‘Vlogbrothers’. It took me a while, but I finally figured out that the author John Green and the singer Hank Green were brothers. Huh.
I don’t remember what the video was, but I know it was hilarious. I also know I scrolled around through their past videos and watched them in marathon form. Subscribed immediately.
Too bad only the Nerdfighters will get it.
Did anyone else expect TFiOS to end in the middle of a sentence?
YES.
Partway through the book, I just stopped, stared at the page and said to the book “John Green, if you end this in the middle of a sentence I will hunt you down and punch you in the face…”
For curledupwithabook, who requested more Vlogbrothers. :)
Reasons I’m A Nerdfighter #394
CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP WHERE IS MY ESTHER BRACELET?!?!
Edit: IT’S OKAY! I found it. It was inside my jacket sleeve. Must have come off my arm when I ditched the jacket. PHEW!
Happy TFIOS Day, Nerdfighteria.
It’s still in its wrapping paper.
It’s been sitting next to me all day so I can grab it at midnight, rip open the paper, and start reading.
I’ve discovered that it’s not good to have it within sight, because that thing is tempting!!
But no, I will not read it until January 10. I will not open it until midnight. I CAN DO THIS!
This afternoon, while shopping at my local bookstore with my sister, I was shocked to discover four copies of TFiOS on the shelves! Blue and white and shiny, with a pretty yellow “Signed by the Author” sticker on the front. (My non-Nerdfighter sister was confused by my reaction and pointed out that if it was a book I wanted, I should buy one of those copies because “they’re signed ones”. Lol.) I trotted back to the front desk to speak to an employee and explained about the secrecy campaign and the author’s wishes, and she checked online for the release date and consulted her manager. Turns out the manager knew about the embargo and was just as surprised as I was that the books were on the shelves! Apparently they had arrived that very day without an invoice, and as there were no instructions stating otherwise, the person who’d unpacked it had just gone ahead and shelved them. The manager thanked me sincerely for pointing it out and promptly swept up the four copies and carried them off to a back room.
Anyhow, having had this experience, I’d like to encourage Nerdfighters to keep their eyes peeled at their own local bookstores over the next few days and to make sure that said bookstores keep TFiOS off their shelves until the 10th! Mistakes and miscommunications happen, but we can all help keep the internet as spoiler-free as possible. :-)

ATTN Nerdfighters: ^ ^ ^
Hello Nerdfighters, on 20 January it will be Henry’s birthday and we’re putting together a little something for him. As we all know, Henry hates malaria, so for his birthday this year we are moving one step closer to ending needless deaths of many in the world due to malaria. Our aim is to have a world in which Henry can grow up safe in the knowledge that malaria is no longer a problem in the world.
To donate to the project, simply click here and donate as much as you can (you can use PayPal), whilst leaving a nice little message if you wish :) Thanks!
